Audrey L. Gallagher, age 89 of Shawano, passed away on Monday, January 1, 2024 at Sun Valley Assisted Living Facility, Shawano.
Audrey Linda Gallagher was born January 8, 1934 in Gillett, WI, daughter to the late Edmund & Linda (Kitzman) Elbe. She graduated from Gillett High School with the class of 1952. Audrey was united in marriage to Lowell F. Gallagher on September 11, 1954 at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Gillett. She lived in the Oconto Falls area for about five years, where she started working as a nurse’s aid at the Oconto Falls Hospital. After moving to the Township of Wescott in 1959, she later worked at Shawano Hospital as a nurse’s aid in the OB department starting in 1965. After many years of service, Audrey decided to attend Northwest Technical Institute to earn her LPN certificate. On February 2, 1981, Audrey went back to work at Shawano Hospital as an LPN, where she worked until her retirement in 1997. She also worked after retirement for a time as a med-tech at Heartland Nursing Home, Shawano. Audrey enjoyed reading, and traveling with her daughters. They would take spontaneous road trips around the state, took Amtrak across the country on multiple occasions, and traveled to Hawaii, New Zealand, and Australia. Audrey cherished her grandchildren to the fullest and will be remembered for her caring nature, and the love she had for family, friends, and patients over the years.
Audrey is survived by her daughters: Rachel (Brian) O’Brien, Cecil; Brenda Reynolds, Shawano; & Candace (Terry) Foss, Milwaukee
Grandchildren: Benjamin & Katelyn O’Brien, Nicholas Buchholz, Bradford Reynolds, Hope (Tyler) Albertson, & Andrew Nelson
A great-granddaughter: Kali Nelson
Brother: Wallace (Charlotte) Elbe, Belton, TX
Her canine companion: L.B.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Deborah Gallagher (in infancy) and Susan Gallagher; son, John Gallagher; son-in-law, James Buchholz; sisters, Virginia (Llewyllen) Strehlow and Barbara (Frank) Frazer; & a special canine companion, Ubo.
Funeral services will be held 11 AM Monday January 8, 2024 at Hope Community Church, Shawano, with the Rev. Chris Secor officiating. Interment will take place following the service at Wescott Lake Drive Cemetery, Township of Wescott.
Visitation will take place on Monday at the church from 9 AM until the time of service.
