SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano County Sheriff’s Office says ice is very dangerous in Northeast Wisconsin.
“There have been multiple incidents of people falling through the ice the past few days. The warm weather and rain have made the lakes and rivers very unsafe. Please be safe and stay off the ice.”
Sheriff Deputies responded to a fatal incident on Christmas Eve when a Shawano County man fell through the ice at Lulu Lake.
Cory Kuhn from Kuhn’s Bait and Tackle says he has not seen many fisherman come in since the recent rain, so the fishing seems to be lower on Shawano Lake than past years at this time.
“You should always use extreme caution with early ice regardless, but this year especially,” Kuhn said.
