A man from Little Suamico, David Steinmetz, entered a plea of no contest on December 12 to charges of murdering his mother and stepfather. The sentencing is scheduled for February 20.
Steinmetz, aged 29, was convicted on two counts of first-degree intentional homicide related to the shooting deaths of his mother, Lori Steinmetz Brennan, aged 55, and her husband, Paul Brennan, aged 75, which occurred on October 1, 2022. The charge of possession of a firearm by a person convicted of a felony was dismissed but noted in the record.
The bodies of the couple were discovered with multiple gunshot wounds outside their residence on Melissa Boulevard on the morning of October 2. The investigation revealed that the shootings had taken place the previous afternoon, as per the criminal complaint.
