WAUPACA, WI- Cassidy A. Schmidt, 42, of Marion, is facing charges of making terrorist threats, disorderly conduct, and resisting an officer after an incident at Marion Body Works on Friday, Nov. 3.
Following Schmidt’s termination earlier that morning, Marion Police Chief Kevin Schultz received a notification from Marion Body Works around 10:30 a.m. Schultz was informed that Schmidt had allegedly told a co-worker’s wife that he felt compelled to “put on his black jacket and go shoot the place up,” as stated in the criminal complaint.
Concerned about the potential threat, Schultz conducted surveillance near Schmidt’s residence, given its proximity to the plant. Upon questioning Schmidt about the incident, Schultz reported that Schmidt appeared intoxicated, with slurred speech.
With the assistance of two other officers, Schultz managed to handcuff Schmidt, who had a staggering blood-alcohol level of 0.39, as indicated by a preliminary breath test. Schmidt was later released after posting a $1,000 cash bond.
A scheduled adjourned initial court appearance for Schmidt is set for Tuesday, Nov. 28.
