HORTONVILLE, WI- After two and a half years of tireless work and countless traffic disruptions, the end is finally in sight for the extensive road construction project in Hortonville. On Friday, a celebratory ceremony marked the near-completion of the Highway 15 bypass around the town.
The culmination of this significant infrastructure endeavor was commemorated with a ribbon-cutting ceremony, held on Friday. Local officials and residents gathered to mark this long-awaited milestone, expressing their relief and joy over the completion of the Highway 15 bypass around Hortonville.
The extensive construction project, which commenced in May 2021, aimed to rebuild and expand a total of 11 miles of Highway 15, spanning from Highway 45 in New London to Lily of the Valley Drive in Greenville. The expansion included the introduction of roundabouts at either end of Hortonville, where the new bypass seamlessly intersects with the existing Highway 15.
Despite the majority of the work being completed, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation has outlined plans for additional construction activities in 2024. These activities will primarily involve the application of polymer overlays to the bridges along the route, enhancing their durability and longevity. Furthermore, a new salt shed will be constructed in the nearby town of Hortonia, adding to the road infrastructure improvements in the area.
