FREEDOM, WI- A three-vehicle collision occurred in Outagamie County, resulting in one fatality and injuries to another individual. The incident unfolded on a Thursday, just past 5:30 a.m., at the crossroads of County Highway EE and County Highway S within the town of Freedom.
According to authorities, the accident transpired when a vehicle heading northbound on County Highway EE failed to yield to oncoming traffic along County Highway S. Upon attempting to merge onto County Highway S, the northbound vehicle was forcefully struck by an eastbound semi-truck. The impact of the collision propelled both vehicles into a westbound pickup truck.
The driver of the northbound vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene. Meanwhile, the driver of the eastbound semi-truck emerged non-injured from the collision. The operator of the westbound pickup truck sustained injuries deemed non-life threatening and was subsequently transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance for medical care.
As a result of the ongoing investigation into the crash, authorities have extended the closure of the intersection for several additional hours to gather crucial information and determine the sequence of events leading to this unfortunate incident.
