CLINTONVILLE, WI – The peaceful city of Clintonville was rattled by a tragic stabbing incident that unfolded on Memorial Circle Monday afternoon. The Clintonville Police Department responded swiftly to the distress call. As officers arrived at the scene, they discovered a female victim lying on the ground, suffering from a single stab wound to the chest. The perpetrator was still present at the scene when the police arrived, making for a swift apprehension.
Chief Craig Freitag emphasized the rarity of such incidents in the area. “This type of stuff can occur in small communities,” he said. There are going to be people who are surprised and shocked.”
During a press conference. Freitag revealed that the victim and the suspect were not strangers, as they shared a prior acquaintance. It was later learned that they were mother and son. The unfortunate incident occurred while the victim was driving a vehicle, with the suspect as her passenger. It was during this drive that the victim was brutally stabbed once in the chest. The woman managed to exit the vehicle and promptly dial 911.
The suspect, identified as 19-year-old Jordan Peters from Neenah, was swiftly taken into custody and transported to the Waupaca County Jail.
The victim, a 39-year-old female also from Neenah, Wisconsin, did not survive her injuries. She was immediately transported by Theda Star to Theda Care-Neenah, where medical professionals, along with the dedicated efforts of officers and the Clintonville Area Ambulance Service staff, attempted to save her life. However, despite their best efforts, she was later pronounced deceased.
The tragic incident has left the community in a state of disbelief and sorrow, as they grapple with the unsettling reality that even in the most peaceful of towns, violence can rear its ugly head.
“Fortunately, in our area, this kind of thing does not happen on a weekly basis.”
