ASHWAUBENON, WI- The New London Clippers came into Tuesday needing to win two games to win the AA State Legion Baseball Tournament.
The Clippers almost rose to the challenge by beating Ashwaubenon 4-3 in the first game, but fell 6-5 in the championship game.
In the first game, New London was tied 3-3 with Ashwaubenon in the 7th and won in the bottom of the 7th.
New London’s win over Ashwaubenon was the A’s first loss of the tournament, and forced a winner-takes-all game Tuesday evening.
The Clippers led 4-0 midway through the game and led 5-1 late, but a bases clearing hit by the A’s brought them to within one. and a game winning walk-off home run in the 7th, gave the A’s the title.
