Large Shawano County Barn Fire

SHAWANO CO – A barn fire in Shawano County that took place Sunday remains under investigation. Ground conditions have been dry and officials say the fire started just after a thunderstorm.

Crews were called out to County Road K and Church Road, just south of Shawano. The dark smoke could be seen from miles away. Firefighters were still battling the fire in the evening hours and were called back on Monday.

Shawano Fire Chief Shawn Borlace who said the exact cause of the fire is still undetermined, although fire officials are deeming it accidental. Nobody was hurt. Fire officials do not have an exact dollar amount of the estimated cost of damage, but the barn is considered a total loss.
