WAUPACA, WI- A man who claimed that he was shot in Embarrass on New Year’s Eve has been charged in Waupaca County. 39-year-old Ryan Lohrentz was in court on Tuesday. He has been charged with possession of a firearm while intoxicated, resisting an officer and disorderly conduct.
According to the criminal complaint, police were called to a residence in Embarrass on Saturday night. It was reported that Lohrentz told his neighbors that he had been shot and that his family was kidnapped.
Police were able to determine that he had cut wounds, but not gun shot wounds. His wife told police that the cuts came from him breaking things.
An 18-year-old man was also taken into custody at the same residence.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that nobody was shot or abducted.
Lohrentz will be back in court on January 31.
