SHAWANO, WI- Ice has formed on Shawano Lake and fishing has started.
Experts monitoring the conditions say 2022 started slow, but recent weather has resulted in 7-9 inches of ice. On the east side of the lake near Cecil Bay, about 12 inches of ice is being reported.
ATV’s and some trucks have been spotted on the ice along with shacks. Fisherman are not as confident about the west side of the lake at this time.
With the recent snow melt, the ice is more slippery so ice cleats could be a good idea to have.
