MADISON, WI- The Wisconsin DNR is asking hunters to help prevent the spread of bird flu this fall. While there is little known risk to humans associated with handling birds infected with avian influenza, hunters can help prevent the spread to other birds by using rubber gloves when cleaning and handling game. Also, after the hunt, the DNR advises washing any clothes and disinfecting any equipment used in the field. It may be difficult to spot infected birds keep an eye out for those with weird postures, swimming in circles or moving and twitching oddly.
