SHAWANO, WI-A Meeting was held Tuesday to provide an update on the bridge construction project.
The project is now scheduled to start July 25, 2022 and reopen October 21, 2022. These dates are subject to weather in that the contract is a 65 working day contract.
Boaters can expect closures while construction is underway. The waterway under the bridge will be open during the construction project starting on Fridays at 1:00 pm and will remain open until 6:00 am Monday. The construction company advised that boaters may be allowed to pass during the working period but only with the permission of the construction crew. Anyone wishing to pass should politely ask if it is safe to pass. Boater passage may not be allowed; this is at the construction crews discretion. Once construction starts on the new bridge its clearance height will be reduced for boaters by approximate 1 foot due to construction forming.
The lower clearance period is projected to be from August 25th through September 14th. This is temporary.
Once completed we will have significantly enhanced clearance for both height and width for boating traffic.
