Charles “Chuck” Miller, age 74 of Tigerton passed away unexpectedly on July 3, 2022, at Marshfield Medical Center, Ladysmith.
Charles Carl Miller was born on July 27, 1947, in Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, to Harry and Adeline (Smith) Miller. He grew up in the Tigerton area and graduated from Tigerton High School in 1965. Chuck entered the U.S. Navy serving from 1967 – 1971; and he did several tours of duty in Vietnam. He was united in marriage on July 14, 1979, to Carol M. Olson in Black Creek, Wisconsin, and the couple were blessed with four children. Chuck started as a meat cutter and worked his way up to grocery store manager. He served for some years as store director at Roundy’s Supermarkets in Eagle River and Hurley. Then four years ago, he began working part-time at Remington Foods in Manawa, as head of the meat department.
Chuck was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed deer hunting with the gun or the bow; going on hunting trips out west; and fishing trips to Canada or just catching catfish locally. He also liked working in his vegetable garden, canning lots of stuff that he grew, and playing golf whenever possible. Chuck loved spending time with family and friends; and he was a proud grandfather and great grandfather.
Survivors include his soul mate for the past 52 years, Carol; and four children, Cathy (Brian) Zeinert of Chippewa Falls, Jacki Miller of Birnamwood, Troy Miller of Tigerton, and Shannon (Angelo Firkus) Ripley of Birnamwood. There are 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Harriet (Larry) Abitz-Haglin of Wausau; a brother-in-law, Ken (Mary) Olson of Pulaski; and many other relatives and friends.
Chuck was preceded in death by his parents; and seven siblings, Delores, Carla, Eddie, Jack, Zane, Russell, and Harry Jr.
