SHAWANO, WI- A project to replace a bridge on the west side of Shawano Lake will impact both vehicle and boat traffic. The work on Highway HHH (Airport Road) bridge is set to begin on July 25.
County highway commissioner Grant Bystol says the road will be closed during construction. The area will be closed to boat traffic at times, but crews will have it open between 1 p.m. Friday and 6 a.m. Monday.
The project costs 1.8 million dollars and is scheduled to be finished by early November. The new bridge will allow for tw0-way boat traffic and will be two feet higher than the current bridge.
A meeting has been scheduled for people to learn more about the project on Tuesday at the Shawano County Park Indoor Pavilion. The meeting will be from 2:00pm to 3:00pm. A representative of the contractor, Pheifer Brothers, will be available to answer questions.
