OCONTO, WI- A Waukesha man was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle as well as homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle after allegedly being involved in a crash that killed another man.
53-year-old Scot Haas was charged on Wednesday. The incident dates back to May 29 in the Town of Doty at the intersection of County T at Boulder Lake Lane. It was reported that the passenger, David Weinmann was thrown from the cargo area of the UTV, hitting his head on the pavement. Weinmann died from his injuries.
Charges were filed Wednesday in connection with a fatal UTV incident in which the passenger was thrown from the cargo area, hit his head on the pavement, and died.
Scot Haas, 53, of Waukesha, was charged with homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle, and homicide by negligent operation of a vehicle for the May 29 incident which killed David Weinmann. The report indicates that he was riding backwards at the time.
According to online court records, no initial appearance date has been set.
The incident happened at the intersection of CTH T at Boulder Lake Lane, in the Town of Doty. According to the criminal complaint, Weinmann was riding in the cargo area, facing backwards.
A blood sample was taken and sent to the state crime lab but results are not cited in the complaint.
