Ruth M. Ziereis, age 86, of Embarrass passed away peacefully on May 22, 2022, at The Pines Post-Acute and Memory Care, Embarrass, after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.
She was born November 14, 1935, in the Town of Belle Plaine, Shawano County, to Philip and Marie (Stibbs) Degener. She married her lifelong love, Leonard LeRoy Ziereis on November 12, 1955, who survives. Ruth and Leonard lived in Embarrass for the last 63 years, where they raised three children, Brenda, Bob, and Doug.
They enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, fishing, family road trips with the kids, snowmobiling, and all the events that small close-knit towns like Embarrass have to offer. They made a wonderful life, enjoyed 66 years of marriage, and made many cherished memories that will live on.
Besides the love of her life, Leonard, Ruth leaves behind two children, Bob and Brenda. Ruth’s brother Roland’s spouse, Marcella Degener, survives and still remains on the Degener family homestead in Belle Plaine. Other surviving family members are grandson, Jasper (Alex) Hartinger of Wausau; great-grandchildren, Trinity Ann Zynda of Utah and Mac and Bodhi Hartinger of Wausau; three sisters-in-law, Renee (Walter) Sprenger of Embarrass, Connie (Wilbur) Steinke of Shawano, and Delores Ziereis of Embarrass; as well as many nieces and nephews.
Ruth and Leonard’s youngest son Doug, passed in 2013 and no doubt was there to welcome his Mom home to Heaven. Also, preceding Ruth in the passage to Heaven were her parents; her brother, Roland Degener; two grandsons, Ezra Jacob Hartinger and Philip Caleb Hartinger; and a brother-in-law, Lawrence Ziereis.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Tuesday, May 31st with a Prayer Service at 11:30 AM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Rev. Michelle Klemp officiating.
