SHAWANO, WI- Reports of a threat made on social media that indicated violent activity in the form of a shooting at the Shawano Middle School were determined by the Shawano Polie Department to be a rumor. Captain Shane Stange said their investigation did not show any evidence of an actual threat that they could find.
“Social Media was mentioned, but when we looked into social media to try to find it or to have someone show us what was on social media, nobody could produce that.”
Stange said that it does not indicate that someone lied about what they saw and said he would still encourage people to report what they see.
“If you see something, say something,” Stange said.
Shawano School Resource Officers investigated the complaint and determined that there was not any creditability in the rumor.
