SHAWANO, WI- The Shawano School District is closer to figuring out how to balance their $2 million dollar budget deficit. On Wednesday, the Shawano Finance Committee recommended using ESSER iii (Elementary and Secondary School Emergency Relief) dollars to cover the remaining deficit. The actual amount is not finalized yet as their are still factors like Health Insurance, Resignations and Retirements and other factors that will determine how much will need to be covered, but the decision would prevent the Shawano School District from having to do any additional staff non-renewals and would also avoid program cuts. The final approval will need to be made by the full school board on Monday.
