APPLETON, WI- A February 23rd competency status hearing has been scheduled for a man found guilty of killing his grandparents. Nineteen-year-old Alexander Kraus was found not competent for sentencing after his conviction and an exam was ordered. Kraus was a student at Neenah High School in 2019 when he shot Letha and Dennis Kraus to death in their home. Detectives say he told them he used a 20-gauge shotgun when he shot his grandfather first, then his grandmother. Investigators say they found a red folder in his backpack with his typed-out plans for the killings.
