August "Jimmy" Corn Sr.

August “Jimmy” Corn Sr., age 83 of South Branch, passed away at home on Thursday, February 3, 2022.  Jimmy was born on September 23, 1938 to the late August and Elizabeth (Puckiew) Corn.  Jimmy graduated from Suring High School and then enlisted in the US Army where he served for 3 years.  After being discharged from the Army, Jimmy married Clare LaRock in February of 1966 in Milwaukee.  He worked for A.O. Smith in Milwaukee for 20.5 years and then the couple moved to South Branch.  He later started Jim Corn Logging, which he operated for about 40 years until he retired when he was 80 years old.  Jimmy enjoyed dancing, bowling, throwing horseshoes and he especially loved to be out in the woods.

Jimmy is survived by his son, August “Gus” Jr.; siblings, Julia “June” Corn, Gloria Miller, and Donald “Duck” (Diane) Corn; 3 grandchildren, Vance (Nicole), Andre, and Ashlee; 2 great-grandchildren.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Clare; 2 sons, John and James; siblings, Jerome, Roger, Iris, and Norman; grandson, Avery; brother-in-law, William Miller; sister-in-law, Christine Corn.

Visitation will begin at 2 PM on Sunday, February 6, 2022 at the South Branch Community Center (W1281 County Rd M, Keshena, WI 54135) and will continue until the funeral service at 1 PM on Tuesday, February 8, 2022.  He will be interred in St. Joseph’s of the Lakes Cemetery.  Gruetzmacher Funeral Home in Suring is assisting the family with arrangements.  Online condolences can be expressed at www.gruetzmacherfuneralhome.com.
