LAS VEGAS, NV (Wisconsin Radio Network) – The youthful Wisconsin Badgers may become a force to be reckoned with a little sooner than expected. Tyler Wahl blocked a shot, then hit a jumper and two free throws in the final 30 seconds of a 61-55 win over St. Mary’s. With that, Wisconsin claimed the big winners’ trophy for the Maui Invitational Wednesday. Sophomore Johnny Davis scored 20 points and Wahl added 18. The Badgers record improves to 5-and-1 after winning the tournament that was moved to Las Vegas for a second straight year. Wisconsin trailed by 10 points before taking the lead. The Badgers play at Georgia Tech next Wednesday.
The Badgers also topped 12th ranked Houston in their tournament run this week.
