LOS ANGELES, CA- The Milwaukee Brewers play their final series of the regular season this weekend at Dodger Stadium. The Crew dropped the series finale 4-3 at St. Louis Thursday afternoon. Left-hander Eric Lauer is scheduled to start the opener tonight (Friday 9:10 p-m) in Los Angeles against veteran southpaw Clayton Kershaw. The Dodgers trail the Giants by two games in the National League West and currently hold the first N-L wild-card spot.
Former top prospect Keston Hiura is back with the Brewers after being promoted from Triple-A. At one time the infielder looked like Milwaukee’s best shot at developing a quality hitter in the minors. With the National League Central Division title clinched, Hiura will get some at-bats this weekend in the series against the Dodgers. He has looked lost at the plate for more than a year, hitting just .166 in 193 plate appearances with the Brewers this season. He had hit .150 in Triple-A over 117 plate appearances, then picked up the pace in the last eight games, hitting .296 with three homers in 27 at-bats. Hiura went one-for-four with an R-B-I in Thursday’s 4-3 loss at St. Louis.
