James “Jim” Bessette, age 73, of New London passed away Tuesday, September 7, 2021, at his home after a long battle with leukemia.
James Howard Bessette was born on September 8, 1947, in New London to William Edward and Margaret (Keller) Bessette Sr. He grew up in New London and attended local schools. Jim was united in marriage on May 9, 1980, to Sharon A. Krueger in Waupaca. The couple always resided in New London and in 1999 they were blessed with a daughter, Ann Margaret. Over the years, Jim worked at various odd jobs in the area. But was employed the longest at American Toy & Furniture and he worked seasonally at the Canning Factory, both in Hortonville.
During his early days, Jim really enjoyed working on cars, a talent that he learned from his dad. When driving around there was always a “nice” car that would catch Jim’s eye. He would have to stop and check it out. Looking at cars was his biggest passion.
Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Sharon, and one daughter, Ann (friend Mcentire Ross) Bessette. There are three siblings, Chuck (Sally) Bessette, Margaret Meyer, and Vernon (Cindy) Bessette. He is further survived by a niece, Debbie (Art) Blank; his God parents, Steve and Ann Riehl; and many other nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents; his father and mother-in-law; two brothers, Bill Bessette Jr. and Carl Bessette; and a brother-in-law, Erv Meyer.
Memorial Service will be held on Friday, September 17th at 11:00 AM at Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, with Fr. Timothy Shillcox, O. Praem officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until time of service at the funeral home. Beil-Didier Funeral and Cremation Service is assisting the family.
Our family wishes to thank all the nurses with ThedaCare at Home Hospice for the compassionate care given to Jim.
