(TUCSON, AZ)- A man who has an active warrant for child sex crimes that were committed in Shawano County back in 2016, is being brought back for charges.
Pedro Noriega-Avila was recently caught by border patrol attempting to get back into Mexico. Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber traveled to Arizona on Friday to bring him back after five years of being on the run.
Noriega-Avila has been charged with five felonies, including 1st Degree Sexual Assault and Contact with a person under the age of 13, two felony counts of second-degree sexual assault of a child, and two counts of incest of a child by a step-parent.
“We have had a warrant for his arrest for at least five years,” said Bieber.
Extradition Documents were signed by Judge William Kuessel in April to allow for the process to take place.
Noriega-Avila was released on a $5,000 cash bond in June of 2016 and failed to report to court in June of 2016 a little over a week later. That led to a warrant for his arrest.
“This capture is important to the victims in this case,” said Bieber. “Everyone wants closure, a sense of security, and in this case, justice.”
Future court dates will be scheduled.
