MADISON, WI – (Wisconsin Radio Network) – About half the eligible population in Wisconsin has yet to get even a first dose of the coronavirus vaccine – and remain vulnerable to the disease.
Dr. Ryan Westergaard, the state’s chief medical officer, explains the strategy to get more shots in arms.
“Be welcoming of people who have questions about whether they should get a vaccine, be prepared to have those conversations, and be prepared to provide the vaccine when people are ready.”
Westergaard says it’s a more decentralized approach
“So that’s really going to be the key strategy of getting the second half of our state vaccinated, are people having conversations with the providers they trust, at the places where they receive health care.”
About 46 percent of those 12 and older have gotten at least one dose of the vaccine.
