SHAWANO COUNTY, WI-Work will begin next week on a highly anticipated project in Shawano County.
Governor Evers recently signed a $3,074,933 contract to improve the intersection of WIS 29 and Shawano County U in the town of Herman.
Work is scheduled to begin Monday, June 28, 2021.
Relyco, Inc. is the prime contractor for the project. The WIS 29 westbound lanes to the east of the intersection will be reconstructed to improve site distance. The County U intersection will be reconstructed into a J-Turn to improve safety.
During construction, WIS 29 will be reduced to a single lane in each direction with a reduced speed limit of 55 mph. Median crossovers will be utilized, and traffic will run counter directional during the reconstruction of the WIS 29 westbound lanes. An alternate route will be posted for oversize vehicles via I-41, WIS 441, US 10, and US 45. Shawano County U will be closed in stages.
Construction is scheduled for completion by November 2021.
