MADISON, WI- The Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled 4-3 to end Governor Tony Ever’s mask mandate. The court ruled that the governor exceeded his authority in issuing the order.
Earlier, State Republican lawmakers voted to repeal the mandate, but Evers re-issued it.
After the ruling, Governor Evers tweeted, “Wear a mask. Help save lives.”
The court ruled that any public health emergency issued by Evers is valid for just 60 days and can’t be extended without approval of the Legislature.
Representative Jim Steineke tweeted, “Welcome, but long overdue.”
