SHAWANO, WI- The NCAA College Basketball Tournament’s return is good news for many. Fans missed out on the chance to fill out their brackets and watch them bust when the entire tournament was cancelled last year due to COVID-19. Bars also lost out since it is commonly a busy time for sports bars.
Alex White of Brothers Pub in Shawano says it is crazy to think that it took a year to get back to a sense of normal.
“We never saw this in our wildest dreams, but hopefully we are on the up and up and we continue to move on from it.”
White says they have enough dishes to put each game on by request. He says he expects people to show like they normally do and safety procedures are still in place.
“For the weekend it usually is busy, so we are happy to be able to offer multiple games at the same time.”
At Jeannie Rose Sports Bar in Clintonville and New London, this will be the first Tournament Weekend that they have been open.
“Come out and enjoy yourself and have a good time,” said owner Bill Bohn.
The locations both opened up after the COVID shutdowns. Bohn says he knows the tournament is a driving source for business.
“It makes me feel good. You can’t have a sports bar without sports.”
