WAUPACA, WI-A Waupaca County prosecutors accuse the former treasurer of the Manawa chapter of the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary with stealing more than 14-thousand dollars. Fifty-six-year-old Carrie Willems is scheduled to make her initial court appearance April 6th. She’s charged with several counts of theft and forgery. Investigators say Willems admitted she kept poor records for the chapter and admitted forging signatures on checks. She told authorities she did it because she had moved away from the town and it was hard to get other members to supply the needed second signature. Willems also admitted stealing about 43-hundred dollars. Investigators think she took three times that amount.
