
Leonard F. Grunewald, age 85, former resident of Caroline, passed away on Saturday, February 6, 2021 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center, Neenah.
Leonard was born on November 9, 1935 on the Grunewald Homestead farm in the Town of Grant, Caroline. He was the youngest son of Gustave and Lydia (Wissmann) Grunewald. Leonard attended school until the 8th grade and then helped his family on the home farm. He then purchased the farm at the age of 21.
Throughout his life, Leonard was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Caroline and served as a Sunday School Teacher there. He also served on the Board of Directors for the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Leonard was also a member of Town of Grant Fire Department for many years.
On July 14, 1979 he was united in marriage to Ila (Redman) Grunewald. Leonard and Ila were married for 41 years.
Leonard was a hardworking, dedicated, and passionate 3rd generation farmer. He loved spending time in his barn with his girls (the cows) and his cats. Leonard also found time to Hunt, Fish, Bee Keeping, Cards, Bingo, Corn Hole, and Love Watching the Natures of the Outdoors. He sure was a generous, religious, and loving person who loved spending time with his family and friends.
Leonard is survived by his wife, Ila. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his two sisters: Esther Jolitz and Brunett Hartwig, four brothers: Robert Sr., Walter, Gust Jr., and Gilbert Grunewald. He is also survived by numerous family members and friends.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, February 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline, with Rev. Craig Nehring officiating. Visitation will be on Saturday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Burial will be in the parish cemetery in the spring.
