MADISON, WI – (Wisconsin Radio Network) – A new statewide order would cut bars and restaurants to 25-percent of capacity.
Governor Evers’ office is asking the Wisconsin Supreme Court to allow public health officials to issue that order in the effort to slow down new cases of COVID-19. The order would be in effect for 28 days.
The same order issued earlier this year brought on the lawsuit argued Thursday before the high court. The Evers administration wants the Supreme Court to issue a favorable ruling, so Health Secretary Andrea Palm can issue a new one.
In addition, Governor Evers says Wisconsin has only received around 35,000 doses of the Pfizer vaccine this week, much less than the nearly 50,000 doses it was supposed to be getting. Evers says Wisconsin needs those vaccines because the state is seeing so many cases of COVID. He also stresses that the vaccines need to make up for the lack of response he’s able to make because his office is hampered thanks to ongoing litigation.
