MANAWA, WI- Manawa Mayor John Smith is not seeking re-election, saying he needs to focus on his business, his family, himself and his health as 2020 has changed his thought process.
“With COVID hitting and the disruption of our family’s business made me think about some other things going on and allowed me to realize that I needed to take some time to focus on myself.”
Smith owns Smith’s Manawa Steakhouse and says the business aspect of his life needs some more attention. He says he also wants to spend more time with family, including 9 grandchildren.
“I always felt that once I was elected, I needed to be involved as much as possible, even though it was a part-time job,” Smith said. “I always felt it was important to serve the people properly.
Smith has served as Manawa’s Mayor for the last 8 years.
Anyone who is interested in being the next Mayor should turn their completed work in by 5:00 p.m on Tuesday, January 5
