STEVENS POINT, WI (Wisconsin Radio Network) – The Wisconsin Interscholastic Athletic Association’s plan for winter sports will follow a similar model to the one used this fall. Masks and social distancing will be requirements once again. High school wrestling teams will be limited to one match per week and gymnastics competitions will be held over the course of one day, instead of two. Basketball teams will have an extra time out for each half. The W-I-A-A Board of Control made these determinations at a Friday meeting. Doctor Kevin Walter told officials that winter sports being played indoors increases concerns for the spread of coronavirus, but sports do help with the physical and mental well-being of athletes.
