Arlene A. Wuske, age 83, of Town of Grant, Shawano County, passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2020 surrounded by family at Aster Assisting Living, Clintonville.
The former Arlene Ann Genskow was born on May 26, 1937 in Tigerton to William and Ella (Fraedrich) Genskow and she grew up on the family dairy farm in the Town of Grant. Arlene was united in marriage on September 17, 1966 to Ralph C. Wuske at Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline. For many years, she worked in the kitchen and was head cook at the Clintonville Community Hospital until it closed. Then she oversaw housekeeping at the Behling Memorial Home, Clintonville, until retiring in the early 2000’s.
Arlene was a longtime member of Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline, where she served on the Altar Guild. She liked playing cards, especially sheepshead with some local lady friends every week. The couple enjoyed fishing all year round in the area for bluegills and perch. She also often helped her husband make firewood. Arlene loved the outdoors whether she was working in her flower beds, vegetable garden, or growing contract pickles.
Survivors include her husband of 54 years, Ralph; and two children, Kay (Craig) Weinig of Clintonville and Chad (Heather) Wuske of Caroline. There are five grandchildren, Morgan and Madisyn Weinig, Justin, Braylen, and Tristan Wuske. Arlene is also survived by one sister, Carol Hauser of Clintonville; three sisters-in-law, Betty Patrikus, Sharon Breitenfeldt, and Marilyn (David) Goers; and one brother-in-law, Floyd (Luella) Wuske. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Arlene was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Milton “Jim” Genskow; and seven sisters, Elda (Lorenzo) Balke, Anita (Anthony) Schecklman, Edna (Fred) Henselin, Betty (Ernest) Hirt, Ruby (Sylvester) Schmidt, Gladys (Joseph) Wenner, and June (Edward) Schecklman. She is also preceded by three brothers-in-law, Gerald (LaVonne) Wuske, Roger Patrikus, and John Breitenfeldt; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Service will be held on Wednesday, November 25th at 11:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, Caroline. Rev. Craig Nehring will officiate and burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until time of service at the church. Beil-Didier Funeral Home, Clintonville, is assisting with the arrangements.
