SHAWANO, WI – Halloween will be featured in downtown Shawano throughout October.
The Sugar Bowl’s annual Haunted House returns for the second year.
“Last year we had a great turnout so we wanted to bring it back this year,” said Maddie Stuewer who organizes the Halloween fun house. “We are affordable, we are in a good location and it is just something that Shawano has not had.”
This year, the plan was to go bigger and better, but they had to make some adjustments due to COVID-19.
“The biggest thing is limiting the number of people, the number of actors and making sure that everyone is wearing a mask.”
Stuewer says everyone will be masked, including the actors.
“With so many things shutting down this year, we wanted to give the people of Shawano something safe to do and allow them to celebrate Halloween,” she said.
Stuewer says they were able to make some adjustments and make it seem bigger this year.
“Last year we had 8 rooms and this year we have 20,” she said. “We have more decorations and some new friends that have been creeping me out as I have been setting up.”
As far as the scare factor, Stuewer says it is not for the faint of heart because they do want people to be spooked.
“Last year we had grown adults coming through who were terrified, so it is up to you, but you are guaranteed to be scared at least a handful of times.”
The Haunted House theme for this year is “It wants to Escape” and it runs Friday, Saturday and Sunday evenings throughout October starting at 6:00pm.
Admission is $5 dollars for adults and teens and $3 dollars for youth.
