Kathleen M. “Kathy” Czachor, 73, passed away on Monday, August 10, 2020 at her home in Cecil, Wisconsin.
Kathleen Mary Schmidt was born on October 17, 1946 in Oconto County, a daughter of the late Vernon and Victoria (Brooks) Schmidt. She attended Gillett High School, and on October 1, 1966 was married to Daniel J. Czachor of Krakow. Kathy and Dan moved to West Allis, Wisconsin where their son, Brad, was born in 1968, and their daughter, Rachel, was born in 1971. In 1974, the couple moved to Green Bay where Kathy earned a Bachelor’s degree in accounting from UW-GB. She went on to enjoy a rewarding career as the human resource manager for Asten Foaming Fabrics in Appleton. After Kathy retired, she and Dan traveled, enjoyed time with their family and friends, and doted on their three grandchildren. Kathy’s grandchildren were the loves of her life.
Kathy’s favorite spot was at “the lot”, a beautiful piece of land on the Oconto River which she and Dan lovingly restored. They welcomed family and friends for “Christmas in July” parties, picnics, camping, tubing, cards, and bonfires. In recent years Kathy lived in Middleton, Wisconsin in the winter, and traveled as often as possible. She spent summers at her home on Shawano Lake in Cecil, fishing, crafting, and spending time with friends and family. Everyone who knew Kathy loved her for her kindness, loyalty, and generosity, and easygoing nature. She was the best mother, grandmother, sister, mother-in-law, aunt, and friend anyone could ask for. She was caring and thoughtful, constantly checking on loved ones. Kathy always remembered birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations with cards, texts, or gifts of congratulations, encouragement, and appreciation. She was loved dearly, and will be missed very much.
Survivors include her daughter, Rachel (and Fred) Lubeley; her daughter-in-law, Brennan Nardi; her grandchildren, Chloe, Allie, and Ben; her brother, Norman Schmidt; and her sister, Verna Schmidt. Kathy was also a special sister-in-law and aunt to family on both the Schmidt and Czachor sides. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dan, and her son, Brad.
A memorial service for Kathleen will be held on Saturday, August 15, 2020 at 12:00 PM at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano. Deacon James Lonick will officiate. Visitation will begin at 10:30 AM on Saturday and continue until the time of service. Private family burial will take place at a later date at St. John’s Cemetery in Gillett.
Due to COVID concerns, the family is requesting that masks be worn and social distancing of six feet be followed. In addition, a luncheon will not be served after the service.
In lieu of flowers and plants, contributions in memory of Kathleen may be made to Animal House Shelter, 13005 Ernesti Road, Huntley, IL, 60142, www.animalhouseshelter.com, where she adopted her beloved dog, Margot.
