Gerald J. “Whitey” Kraft, age 73 of the Town of Herman, passed away on Wednesday, August 12, 2020. Whitey was born on October 20, 1946, to the late Emil and Ethel (Peterson) Kraft in Clintonville. He proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Drill Sargent. On January 13, 1979, Whitey was united in marriage to Trudi Jung at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hermansfort. He worked for Marion Body Works Inc. and was known as the “Beer Man”, working for Choice Beer Sales and Lee Beverage in sales and delivery. Whitey was active in his community playing for the Marion Soft Ball League, participating in Monday Night Bowling, as well as Saturday Night Couples’ Bowling. He was a member of the Wisconsin Deer Hunters Gresham Chapter and Leopolis Fish and Game Club. He enjoyed working the Football Chain Gang at Marion and Shawano. Whitey loved his family dearly and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Whitey is survived by his wife of 41 years, Trudi; children, Lonnie (Heather) Kraft of Fond du Lac, Kenny (Shanie) Kraft of Suamico, Michelle (Kyle Van Lannen) Koehler of Cloverleaf Lakes, and Nikki Kraft of Shawano; grandchildren, Becca, Austin, Olivia, and Sophi; in-laws, Hermie (Barb) Jung, Patti (Dean Bezeqk) White, Tom Strelow, and Bonnie Bartz; he is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
He is preceded in death by his parents and in-laws, Diane Jung, Bob Jung, and Peggi Strelow.
A funeral service will be held for Whitey at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 16, 2020, at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Hermansfort, under the tent, with Rev. Steve Conradt officiating. Military rites will be conducted by the Shawano American Legion Post # 117. Visitation will be held at the church, under the tent, on Sunday from noon until the time of service.
