GERMANTOWN, WI- (Wisconsin Radio Network) – A basketball coach is being criticized for punching a 15-year-old girl at an independent game being played at Germantown High School Wednesday.
The incident was captured on video.
The coach, Craig Hawley was seen swinging at the athlete, and in the resulting fight, the girl’s mother had one of her teeth knocked out.
Hawley, says he, his son and others were defending themselves because they were attacked first.
Hawley says his son’s eye socket was broken when he was hit.
No arrests have been made and police say no charges can be filed unless a complaining victim comes forward.
Hawley was recently the Kaukauna Girls Basketball Coach and left the position in January. Prior to that, he was the Hortonville Boys Coach between 2008 and 2012.
