WEYAUWEGA, WI – Weyauwega City Hall is closed to the public after a report of a COVID-19 exposure.
City Administrator Jeremy Schroeder said they were made aware earlier in the week.
“Myself and two other staff members were exposed to a person a couple of times at City Hall who has tested positive,” he said. “City Hall was closed starting Tuesday to have a deep cleaning done.”
He says it was recommended that he and the two other staff members self-quarantine for 14-days for safety.
He says it will remain closed until everyone is able to return to work, but emphasized that it is a precautionary measure only.
“None of the three of us have any symptoms or anything, we are just following Waupaca County Health guidelines. The three of us had close contact with the individual which is why we are staying home.”
He says he feels by doing this, it is setting a good example for staff and the community by following what the Health Department recommends.
He says once City Hall does reopen, some changes may be in place, but that has not been decided yet. Schroeder says there is not an exact opening date at this time.
“It will remain closed until everybody is back at work.”
