WEYAUWEGA, WI- There will be a fair in Waupaca County.
The decision was made during a Fair Board meeting Wednesday night.
“The board felt that were able to move forward with having the full fair but still make adjustments and modifications to keep everyone safe because that is the top priority,” said Fair Manager Jeremy Schroder.
The fair board members felt that is was important to move forward with recognizing the youth and adults who have put in the hard work with their animal and exhibits.
Schroeder says the fair is also an important event for area non-profit groups.
The Waupaca County Fair Board has been meeting with city and county officials to ensure proper guidelines are in place for the event and have had conversations with all of those involved with making the fair a success.
“We fully understand that some people may not be comfortable coming to the fair,” Schroder said. “People have to make their own decisions based on safety.”
Schroder says it was previously decided to have one less day at this year’s fair, and Wednesday will be used for a preparation day and entry day for the exhibitors. The fair will be open to the public on Thursday, August 27.
One modification that has been made is moving the live music out of the grandstand.
“We have the Frog Country Midway stage and that is where all the music is going to be so we can spread people out more so we don’t have them all confined to one area.”
One of the things that is still under discussion is the company picnic areas. It that was something that was going to be new this year and now that may be put on hold until 2021.
“We are going to increase the number of hand washing stations and plan to have more than double the amount that we have had in past years.”
A complete action plan will be put in place that will follow health guidelines.
He says you can expect hand sanitizer stations and extra signage.
Schroder says they are putting plans in place to prepare for what might be a large crowd.
