
Bernadine L. Luszczek, age 89, of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Monday, June 8, 2020. Bernie was born on November 13, 1930, in Chicago, IL, to the late Joseph and Anna (Zell) Stevens. On October 15, 1955, Bernie was united in marriage to Chester Luszczek in Chicago, Illinois. The couple made their home in the Chicago area before moving to Krakow in 1982. They owned and operated Chet’s Krakow Inn where Bernie bartended from 1982 – 1996. After retirement the couple lived in the Pulaski area and later in Shawano where they resided since 1997. They were active members of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Chester preceded Bernadine in death on January 1, 2012. Bernie loved people and was a joy to everyone she met. In her free time she enjoyed playing cards and reading as well as volunteering at Evergreen Healthcare Center in Shawano.
Bernie is survived by: her children, Mark (Elizabeth) Luszczek of Clarendon Hills, IL, Joan (Roger Karcz) Luszczek of Krakow, WI, and Susan (Michael) Dina of Hickory Hills, IL; and three grandchildren, Amy Dina, Eric Dina, and Stacy Luszczek. She was further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death her husband of 56 years, Chester; her parents; her brother, Ernest Stevens; and her sister, Dorothy (Edmund) Rogel.
A funeral mass for Bernadine will be held at 11:00 am, on Friday, June 12, 2020, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Shawano with Fr. Scott Valentyn officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 9:30 am until the time of service. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Evergreen Nursing Home.
