Corrine “Toots” Menore, age 81, of Keshena, started her journey at home on May 30, 2020 surrounded by her family. Corrine was born on May 28, 1939, in Keshena, to the late Pete and Adeline “Decorah” Gauthier. Corrine was united in marriage to Alex “Menot” Menore and together they had 9 children. Corrine loved her bingo and her cigarettes, she traveled to many states for her job and to attend powwows. Corrine loved all native jewelry so she coordinated and held all native art and craft shows at the Menominee Casino Resort and at powwows. Corrine held various jobs but the most important one to her was when she was hired full time as a “Crime Victims” Specialist. During her 18 years of service for crime victims she received numerous certificates and awards. She was especially proud when she received an award and was recognized by the FBI for her job well done on the Reservation. She loved her job but most of all she loved her children, 42 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Corrine is survived by: her children, Ivan and Mona Menore, Alex and Mary Menore, Anna Menore, Tony and Christine Menore, Corina and Kenny Klingbeil, James and Claire Menore, Lynette and Robin Butler, LuAnn Menore and Melissa and Tom Menore; her sibilings, Anthony Gauthier, Joanne Baker, Rosie “Gunn” Gauthier, Evelyn Nacotee, and Thomas Nacotee; as well as nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by: her parents, Peter “Gunn” and Adeline Gauthier; her soul mate, Alex Menot Menore, Sr.; a sister Patricia Ann “Panzy” Gauthier; and a brother, Johnny “Gunn” Gauthier.
A funeral service for Corrine will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at the Menore Residence at N1345 Thunderbird Road, Keshena with Amos Gauthier officiating. Burial will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Menore Residence from 2:00 pm on Tuesday, June 2, 2020 until the time of service with a devotional service to follow.
The family of Corrine would like to thank pallbearers, Jake Menore, Emery Von Gulner, Coleman Funmaker, Adam Menore, Thomas Menore, and Joshua Menore; honorary pallbearers, Matthew Menore, Everett Menore, and Daniel Denny; all of the doctors and nurses, the nursing home, and Deb Webster and Donna Corn for the care they gave her.
