HORTONVILLE, WI – Land that is being cleared in Hortonville is going to be used for future business development.
The 1.12 acres is located adjacent to Gilbert’s Grocery Store.
“The topography of the area was not good so we took some trees and cleared that this week,” said Village Administrator David DeTroye.
Clearing will result in the wood product that will be made into mulch and firewood that will be available. on site on a first-come-first-serve basis.
“Villagers will be able to use the mulch and wood and will be first come, first serve.”
DeTroye says the process will give a better perspective for the prospective buyers.
“We are in the process to flatten the lot to make it presentable and we have three interested business owners who have expressed interest.”
The businesses are not being identified, but Village Administrator David DeTroye says it will be a big boost for the Village.
“These are businesses that are very good compliments to what we have and are non-competitive by nature.”
He says they hope to have a sale conformation by the end of May. They would work on an entrance and exit plan to go in place and have everything ready to go by the fourth quarter of the year.
Sand and dirt from the property will be used for fill at the baseball diamonds and areas at the cemetery.
“We are sitting on some of best sand that you will ever find in the area.”
Plans are to complete a fifth diamond with some of that sand.
