Joanne R. Hartmann, age 74 of Shawano, passed away on Friday, May 1, 2020 at ThedaCare Regional Medical Center-Appleton, with her family by her side.
Joanne was born November 7, 1945 in Shawano, a daughter of the late Norman and Nora (Reinke) Schreiber. She attended school in Shawano. On July 21, 1962, Joanne was united in marriage to Allen M. Hartmann at St. James Lutheran Church, where she was a lifelong member. She was also a founding member of the Hamlin Street Bucket Brigade. Joanne was known for working at JC Penney, having been there for over 25 years.
Joanne had a sense of humor and quick wit which will never be forgotten. She was an avid reader, gardener, and enjoyed going to flea markets and Goodwill. A Packer game never went by without a family bet being made. She loved to converse with people and could seemingly strike up a conversation with anyone anywhere about anything. Above all, Joanne loved spending time with her family, and enjoyed being a part of their lives.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of almost 58 years, Allen; her children, Dean (Kellie) Hartmann, Lisa (Shawn) Copsey, and David (Julie) Hartmann; her grandchildren, Sarah (David) Puma, Emily (Carmine) Linea, Jacob (Ashley) Hartmann, James Boivin III, Brodie Hartmann, and Marlie Hartmann; great-grandchildren, Charlotte Puma, Marribelle Puma, Sophia Hartmann, Violet Linea, Thea Linea, Harlynn Hartmann, and Isaac Boivin; and her siblings, Darlene “Dolly” (Dieck) Dahm, Lester Schreiber, Sally Raddant, Beatrice Nicolai, Wayne (Jan) Schreiber, Catherine (Ron) Maas, and Richard (Annette) Schreiber. She is further survived by many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends. Joanne was preceded in death by her brother, Anthony, and a granddaughter, Lilie.
Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, the family has made the difficult decision to remember Joanne privately at this time. A celebration of Joanne’s life will be held at a later date.
