KESHENA, WI- The College of Menominee Nation scored a Mid-Range ranking in a National Recycling Competition.
Out of 189 institutions, CMN finished 93rd.
Every year CMN joins dozens of other colleges and universities in the challenge.
The College of Menominee Nation hosts RecycleMania, a multi-week event that serves as an oppertunity for the College’s community to focus on what is wasted and how some waste is recycled.
CMN collected 1,678 pounds of recyclable materials and 1,259 pounds of waste during the period of February 2 through March 28.
“In addition this year, thanks to volunteer Manih Boyd and a big team of worms, we are also reporting 128 pounds of compost,” said Rebecca Edler of the CMN Sustainable Development Institute.
Tournament results are based on pounds of recycled per capital basis, so the competition has a level playing field for participant institutions ranging in size from major universities such as Purdue and Michigan State to mid-size institutions and small colleges.
Some of the other schools in Wisconsin that participated include UW-Platteville (66th), UW-Whitewater (81st) UW-River Falls (105) and UW-Stout (142).
