CLINTONVILLE, WI – A group of teachers in Clintonville recently got a message from Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers.
“I thank you for your good work.”
Rexford-Longfellow Elementary School staff meets virtually twice a week for a “Virtual Lunch Bunch”.
School administration says it is a time to stay connected as a staff and share professionally and personally with one another.
Governor Evers recently got a chance to join the group of teachers on a Zoom meeting.
“I just wanted to take the opportunity to say thanks for doing this and obviously staying in touch with the students is a complex process.”
Staff at Rexford-Longfellow has worked hard to maintain connections to staff and families throughout this school closure. In addition to the “Virtual Lunch Bunch”twice a week, staff have created videos for students, which are shared on social media.
“Here you are in the middle of a pandemic, not only trying to keep yourselves and your loved ones safe, but also trying to provide comfort for your students so that they know that their teachers care about them,” Governor Evers said. “How do you do all that you do?”
The school is in the process of creating their third video, which will show students the ways to share kindness to others during this time.
“Our kids social and emotional well-being, good god you guys play a huge roll in that too.”
