SHAWANO, WI – How does a set of 15-year-old twins get a birthday to remember without having a big party? Invite first responders.
KK Rohr and Nathanial Rohr were surprised by members of the Shawano County Sheriff’s Department and Shawano Area Fire Department as the vehicles pulled up in front of their home, playing Happy Birthday for the neighborhood to hear and were celebrated with a bunch of cheers.
Shawano County Sheriff Adam Bieber says it is a way to celebrate in a different way.
“This is a time that is tough on a lot of people and we just wanted to do something to be involved in the community and we are pleased that these folks want us to be involved in their special day.
The Twins mother, Tracy Rohr said she just sent a simple message.
“I sent a message to Sheriff Bieber to see if they could do something and he put the rest all together.”
The Sheriff’s Department brought two vehicles and the fire department brought one truck. The vehicles came approaching the house with lights and sirens. A vehicle that was trailing behind noticed what was going on and even shouted Happy Birthday to the twins as they drove by.
“At the end of the day, people look up to our firefighters and law enforcement officers and people like lights and sirens so it makes their day special,” Bieber said.
For the Rohr family, Tracy says they will make a trip to Chicago when everything is safe again.
Sheriff Bieber says there is not a lot of time involved here and it does not cost taxpayers anything. He says anyone that would like this to be done for their child’s birthday can contact him directly on Facebook and it is important to note that they are only doing this during the Safe At Home order which was recently extended to the end of May.
