Stanley C. “Gus” Moede, age 89 of Shawano, passed away peacefully on Thursday, April 9, 2020, with his wife by his side.
Gus was born April 17, 1930 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Arthur and Bernice (Kautz) Moede. He attended Shawano schools, graduating with the Class of 1948. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1949 and was stationed in Panama. Gus received an honorable discharge after three years of service. Upon his return he met the love of his life, Bonita Strelow, at his parents’ bar, Moede’s Beer Bar. The couple was united in marriage on May 2, 1953 in Bowler. They were married for 66 years, and enjoyed every single one of them.
Gus is a member of Peace United Church of Christ, and the American Legion Post #117. He worked as a State of Wisconsin Surveyor, and for the City of Shawano. He was an avid golfer, and loved golfing with his sons and grandchildren. Gus was also a skilled wood worker and carver. He enjoyed watching his grandchildren play baseball and softball, and attended all of their games no matter where they were played, or how far he had to travel. Gus was a clown with a great sense of humor. He had such a personality, he could make everyone around him laugh. Bonnie and Gus loved spending winters in Orange Beach, Alabama. They also enjoyed traveling all over the U.S. with family.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Bonita; his children, Randall (Karyn) Moede, Todd Moede, and Lisa (Stephen) Acra; his grandchildren, Cari Beversdorf, Christopher (Molly) Moede, Ryan Moede, Samantha (Jerrit) Kunschke, and Riley Acra; his great-grandchildren, Taylor, Rayna, Ada, Alice, and Hadley; his sister, Maxine (LeRoy) Buettner; his daughter-in-law, Rita Moede; and his sister-in-law, Doris Kerstner. Gus was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Ronald Moede; and his brother-in-law, Donald Kerstner.
Due to COVID-19, Gus’s family has made the difficult decision to remember him privately. Interment will take place in Woodlawn Cemetery. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers.
