MARION, WI – The man known by many as the King of Cheese curds passed away this week.
Hugo Mielke was known for offering samples of Dupont cheese and doing cheese demos at community events for years.
Community members also know him as Hugo, Otto or Junior.
There will be a vehicle procession to honor Hugo on Saturday, April 11 which will include a hearse, a Dupont Cheese vehicle and family member’s vehicles.
The immediate family will gather at Dupont Cheese at 1:00 pm and the procession will begin at 1:30 pm. The procession will drive to Marion on Highway 110 and will end up at Eberhardt-Stevenson Funeral Home.
Extended family members and friends are encouraged to line Main Street in Marion and pay their respects to observe social distancing.
A memorial service will take place at 2:00 p.m.
During the memorial service which is reserved for family, friends may park in the area and listen to a live radio broadcast of the service on 88.3 FM.
